This article analyzes leisure sports activities of young people with disabilities in a Finnish context. Young people often spend leisure time with their peers, and this analysis draws attention to the potential for sports to form relationships with them. The individual perception of sports by people with disabilities is traced, which they practice together with other young people with disabilities. We find that in the context of wheelchair sports, peer relationships are often supervised by adults. Although peer relationships, which are considered the primary behavioral trait of young people, are rather limited, exercising for people with disabilities increases their willingness to interact, play and stay healthy.
