Branch reference service in the modern system of scientific communications

The authors are describing perspectives of the implementation of branch reference service at scientific library that takes into consideration the peculiarities of modern scientific communications. The experience of the Reference Department of State Public Scientific -Technological Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences with medical students and physicians is presented. Special attention is paid to the competences of reference librarians who are involved in Branch Reference Service.
