The article deals with the reflection, in the censored Soviet poetry at the stage of «thaw» and at the beginning of the transition to the stabilization of the images of contemporaries, life situations, events, problems. That is, -about one of the most noticeable aspects of public consciousness in the conditions of refusal from mass repressions, from isolation from the outside world, and - weakening of «moral and political unity of the Soviet people». A selection of poems by the author (not a literary critic, but a historian, is not indifferent in the years to poetry) and comments for poetry is completely subjective. They may be of interest because they reflect today's perception of that time and his poetry by an ordinary Soviet social scientist from the generation of war peers. The main conclusions: the poetry of those years developed, as a rule, in traditional forms, covering substantially all the main aspects of human life and society in a few extended framework of acceptable interpretations then. The brighter and more noticeable were the attempts to go beyond this framework by poets who differed in their subject-figurative vision of reality and created a unique poetic image first of the «thaw» itself, then of its gradual retreat.
