In 2017, the research of the Lower Ob Valley was continued with the focus on the banks of the Gornaya Ob River north of the Belogorsk Upland. Mammoth fauna and human expansion to the north of Eurasia later than 50,000 BP is confirmed by geological studies. The Ob River valley can be divided into districts and subareas in accordance with the geomorphological features and availability of raw material. Northern district from the Irtysh River to the Gulf of Ob, was the most promising area for the search of Paleolithic materials and the least studied in this respect. In 2017, the Khashgort part of the Northern district was studied. The proposed theoretical constructs have been confirmed by archaeological field survey, and the evidence for the expansion of the Late Pleistocene fauna and human activity in the Upper Paleolithic have been found.
