Based upon a comprehensive analysis of not numerous but detail field descriptions and analytical materials obtained by I.A. Sokolov, V.G. Zolnikov, L.G. Yelovskaya and the other researchers as well as the soil-forming factors an attempt was made to determine the position of pale undifferentiated neutral and acid soils derived from noncalcareous deposits in a new substantive-genetic classification of soils in Russia (2004, 2008). The above group of soils is not uniform. According to diagnostic morphological and physical-chemical properties the loamy icy-frozen soils should be referred to the order of cryometamorphic or ferruginous-metamorphic soils. The loam sandy dry-frozen soils may be related to the same group as well. The soils with the shallow profile (
