Parallel import: the essence and prospects of development

The introduction of international sanctions against Russia significantly affected the results of foreign economic activity of Russian manufacturers. It is clear that the decline in international trade is significant. The search for new channels of foreign economic activity, forms of international financial payments and assistance from the state are possible ways out of the current situation. Taking into account the problems of exporters and importers, the Russian government is developing support measures and one of the measures is the legalization of “parallel imports”. In the modern world, the production of a specific product includes elements that are produced in different countries, ranging from spare parts, components, raw materials and supplies, equipment, to the supply of energy for this production (oil, gas). The introduction of “parallel imports” in Russia is a necessary anti-sacrifice measure when the logistics supply chains for foreign products have stopped working and many foreign brands have left the Russian market. The article discusses the mechanism of parallel import and its difference from “gray” import.
