The COD parameter as an indicator of the origin of river suspension on the example of the Zolotitsa river on the Belomorsko-Kuloysky plateau

The statistical characteristics of the ratio of the COD parameter to the concentration of suspended solids (COD/BB) at 2 sites (background and control) in the Zolotitsa River on the territory of the White Sea-Kuloy plateau in different seasons of the year are determined. The control gate was located in the zone of influence of the drainage waters of the diamond deposit. It is found that below their reset, the values of the ratio under consideration increase markedly and become an order of magnitude higher in the inter-life periods. This indicates a man - made contribution to the increase in the suspension content in Zolotitsa River, their concentrations did not exceed the limits of the natural variability characteristic of the northern rivers.
