The author proposes a new approach to the study of the Multiple Compound - Complex sentences. This type of a composite structure is regarded as a unit made up of 2 complexes: hypotactic and paratactic. Specific characteristics of the paratactic complex have been identified including its structure and functions based on stories and novels by British and American authors.
