"The left" party in the modern party and political system of Germany: the search for identity

The article is devoted to the study of the modern crisis of the ideology of the center-left movement in Germany. The article analyzes the peculiarities of the formation of the left-wing protest movement in the post-united Germany, the reasons for the impossibility of consolidating the main left-liberal and left-radical forces in the country. The Ukrainian crisis has intensified the differences between the factions of the Leftist party, and Sarah Wagenknecht's «Manifesto of Peace» clearly identified anti-militarism as the main ideological concept of the split of the party. The author attempts to assess the prospects for the development of the Sarah Wagenknecht Union as a party of the «new left» in the party system of modern Germany.
