Political struggle in the United Kingdom on the Life Peerages Act 1958

The article examines the problem of preparation and adoption of The Life Peerage Act, 1958, and attitudes to this reform of the leading British political parties and various public groups are analysed. Special attention is given to parliamentary debates and to effects of the reform on the process of further modernization of the House of Lords.
