The article is devoted to party control over the activities of the Simbirsk Province Extraordinary Commission in 1918-1922. The question of the formation and activities of local emergency commissions is relevant in the aspect of the development of early Soviet state. The formation of key prerequisites, and the subsequent expansion of control of the Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks) over the state security bodies constitutes the important part of the Soviet history and requires the fair and impartial academic study. In the course of the work, the author attempts to characterize the interaction of Simbirsk Province Extraordinary Commission with local party organizations; the study is based on the previously unknown materials from the archives of Ulyanovsk oblast.
