Pastoral Ministry of the Rector of the Kurisovo-Pokrovsky Parish, Archpriest Alexander Lebedev, at the Turn of the 19th — 20th Centuries

The article is devoted to the history of the Pokrovskaya church in Kurisovo- Pokrovsky village, Odessa County, Kherson province (now the village of Kurisovo, Limansky district, Odessa region) and to the life of archpriest Alexander Lebedev, who served with it. Father Alexander came from the Ryazan province and was a representative of the large priestly family of the Lebedevs, who served in various parishes of the Ryazan diocese. Due to the fact that the clerical records of the intercession Church for the period of service of Archpriest Alexander Lebedev were not preserved, information about him, his service and family had to be restored according to the documents of the Odessa and Ryazan regional archives. The article reflects the period from the foundation of the Pokrovskaya church to the creation of the Pokrovskaya Orthodox religious community in the first years of Soviet power. The Appendix to the article publishes documents identified in the archives, as well as excerpts from “Kherson diocesan news”, reflecting various periods of the history of the Kurisovo-Pokrovsky parish and its daily life.
