Obstetric peritonitis is one of the most threatening complications of the postpartum period and especially after cesarean section surgery. The important role of the uterus as the entrance gate of infection is determined by the presence of blood clots and remnants of the fetal egg in it, which are an excellent environment for the growth of microorganisms. After cesarean section, there is a high risk of developing purulent-septic complications with the formation of an incompetent scar on the uterus, which in the early postoperative period is the cause of endometritis and peritonitis This article gives an idea of the pathophysiological basis of treatment of patients with complications of peritonitis after cesarean section.
