Dyschondroplasia is a congenital disease, in which the changes in epimetaphyseal bone parts are caused by the disorders of embryonal cartilage ossification. At the clinic of the Federal State Science Institution - «Russian Ilizarov Scientific Center "Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics" of Russian Health Service» correction of deformities and shortenings of the lower limbs has been performed in 40 patients with dyschondroplasia since 1966. There were pathologic fractures (22 fractures) in 12 patients (30 %). While analyzing this group of patients it has been revealed that pathologic fractures are rather frequent complications of dyschondroplasia (30 % of cases), treatment of fractures for dyschondroplasia can be combined with reconstructive interventions, and the presence of the history of pathologic fractures on a level with corrections of deformities and lengthening is a favourable factor prognostically from the point of view of treatment results.
