Pathomorphology of bullous emphysema of lungs and spontaneous pneumothorax

A retrospective analysis of surgical material from 32 patients with this pathology was performed at the thoracic surgery department from 2014 to 2017. The histological microspecimens of the resected lung tissue were examined in layered sections. Morphologically the pathology preceding spontaneous pneumothorax was presented by such changes as blebs and bulls against the background of emphysema of different degrees of severity, pneumofibrosis, sclerosis of pleura, and also changes of lungs as the result of spontaneous pneumothorax (subatelectasis and atelectasis, pleurisy, pleural defects, etc.).
