The article discusses the features of patriotic education of students of a vocational educational organization (VEO) in the modern conditions of the educational system of the village. The emphasis is on the content, methods and forms of work intended for the patriotic education of the youth environment of “marginal” age. The importance of a patriotically oriented socio-educational environment in the upbringing of the patriotism of VEO students is shown. The influence of the practical activities of the activists of the student self-government of the VEO in the manifestation of an active patriotic position aimed at updating their organizational potential and motivating young people to be socially active is emphasized. The article outlines the criteria for the manifestation of a student’s patriotism and names the activities that form a certain orientation of the manifestation of this position and the formation of general competence 6 in accordance with the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standards of secondary vocational education. A system for organizing extracurricular activities of students in an environment rich in patriotically oriented events is proposed. The role of interaction “teacher-parent-student” in the organization and conduct of common events is highlighted. The results of civil and patriotic education of students of the Snezhnensky and Kizilsky branches of the “Verkhneuralsk Agrotechnological College - Cossack Cadet Corps” are substantiated by the consistency and purposefulness of the educational process.
