Patriotism as the basis for the formation of the national idea in modern Russian society

The article is devoted to the content of the modern patriotism, the main components of the national idea. The study considers patriotism as the social phenomenon, the basic characteristic of personality, the part of the public consciousness. Based on sociological survey data the research shows the dynamics of patriotic feelings of Russians, changes of the subject of national pride; it defines self-identification of the citizens with the achievements of the country.
