Бесплатный доступ

The paper discusses the phenomenon of patron-client relationship and social exchange in Russian noble salons at the end of the XIX and the beginning of the XX centuries. The author argues that Prince V.P. Meschersky' salon functioned as an exchange network where actors were connected by a broker. For several decades this social mechanism was used as a communication channel between civil society and state power.
