The article reviews the role of periodicals in 1941-1945 in the Buryat-Mongol Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic on the material of newspapers «Buriat-Mongolskaya pravda», «Buryaad-Mongoloj ynen», «Buryad-Mongolsky komsomolets». Although the regional party organization in the prewar years paid special attention to the development of the press, especially in the Buryat language, in emergency wartime conditions it faced a sharp decline in the number of editions, the local correspondent network halved. In the difficult circumstances of wartime - declining circulation and reducing frequency of newspapers - a lot was made to strengthen the newspaper editorial staff and to increase local correspondent network. On the material of archive materials the article shows the process of strengthening the propaganda nature of national and local newspapers.
