Teacher education in the Kyrgyz Republic: current status and major challenges

The article analyzes the role of teacher education in the development of Kyrgyztan, while emphasizing that not only the level of education of the population, but also the degree of success of all spheres of public life of the country directly depends on this segment of higher education. The work summarizes the major milestones in the history of teacher education in the Kyrgyz Republic. It is stipulated that currently the leading idea and the central task of Kyrgyzstan's educational policy is globalization and modernization of this sphere, in connection with which the necessity to fundamentally reform the system of higher pedagogical education, introduce qualitatively new approaches into practice, models of the educational process that create conditions for the development of the personal and creative potential of the future teacher is justified. The article also highlights the major challenges in the development of higher teacher education and proposes ways of addressing them in the current context.
