The article discusses issues related to the understanding and use of the literature in the late Second Temple period, the Aramaic term ‫“,אנש בר‬Son of Man”. The analysis of the image of the Son of Man in Dan 7:13 in the context of intertestament literature (Aramaic fragment 4Q246 Apocrypha Daniel, the 1st book of Enoch, the Third book of Ezra) and in the New Testament (1st chapter of the Gospel of Luke) indicates that the term could be perceived as a collective name (Israel), or as a proper indication of the messianic king or of a heavenly being.
