The article presents a perceptual-auditory analysis of American English pronunciation types, aimed at identification of personal and linguistic backgrounds of their speakers. It focuses on some prosodic features of English, such as pitch range, tempo, pauses, which turn out to be relevant parameters of speech recognition.
