The negotiations between Muscovy and the holy roman empire on the conclusion of the anti-turkey treaty

The international situation at the end of the 16th century contributed to the conclusion of a treaty of alliance between Muscovy and the Holy Roman Empire within a large anti-Turkey coalition which included European countries and Persia. Due to both objective and subjective reasons the bilateral treaty was not signed. Nevertheless, negotiations in Moscow in 1597 were an important stage in the process of formation of the anti-Turkey coalition. The parties managed to come to an agreement on certain issues and arranged to continue the negotiations in the near future.
