Women plasma transfusion injures recipient lungs

Clinical effectiveness of men (1831 units) and women (504 units) plasma transfused in multisectoral hospital has been evaluated. Plasma recipients mortality has been increased since 9,5% in one unit recipients to 66,7% in more than 20 units recipients. More 50% units transfused to deceased patients are associated with pneumonia development. Women plasma transfusion at 1,18 times more often associated with pneumonia development as compared with men plasma transfusion. Probably sometimes «pneumonia» was TRALI. Women plasma transfusion has not to be transfused but fractionated.
