Resettlement issue and Russian government policy in 1860s-70s in the works of Valentina G. Chernukha. INNA E. BARYKINA (St. Petersburg Academy of Postgraduate Teacher Education; St. Petersburg Institute of History, Russian Academy of Sciences) The article analyzes the set of works of the historian Valentina G. Chernukha devoted to the study of migration policy in Russian Empire in 1860s-1870s. The interest of the historian to the issue was a logical extension of her work on the issue of the choice of development in Russian history. She managed to show the place of resettlement problem in the reform agenda of the 1860s, ways of its resolution and gave an explanation to the choice that was eventually made by the government. Resettlement reform, according to the historian, was another missed opportunity of the legislative modernization of the Russian state.
