Peripheral tourism in China: current state and development prospects

The relevance of the article is related to the interest in the tourism development in China at the present time and the conditions for the tourism industry, not only in large cities, but also on the periphery. In the article, the authors examine the history of the tourism industry in China, explore the current state of tourism development, present the results of the studying inbound and outbound tourism for 2015 and 2017 and show its characteristics, determine priority destinations and tourists' preferences. The article considers main cultural and natural monuments of the People''s Republic of China. The authors analyze tourism development not only in the large cities of China, but also in smaller ones, such as the cities of Zhejiang Province, which is the most dynamically developing. The authors study the development potential of the tourism industry in China''s cities and the measures to attract foreign tourists to the country. The main attention is paid to the development of the tourism industry in the country. The article also gives a brief overview of the sight-seeing and cultural tourism, the development of which promotes the rise of the hotel industry in China. The authors describe more accurately historical attractions of China And gives their brief history. The authors draw the conclusion about the tourist potential of China, the tourism development and the achieving the leading positions in the global tourism industry.
