Print media and censorship as a factor forming the Russian society mentality during the First World War (on materials of the Volga provinces)

The paper analyzes contents and trends of periodicals during the First World War. The governmental influence on social consciousness by the use of various kinds of print media is shown. Some characteristic features of censorship work are revealed. The research is based on both all-Russian materials and data from the Volga provinces.
