Prospects of industrial and transport development of the Komi Republic

Resource and transport preconditions of effective development of mineral resource base and creation of new industrial plants are considered. The prospects of the basic resource and industrial complexes are presented: fuel and energy, timber industry, mining. Technological and legal problems of development and use of mineral raw materials are designated. The interconnected resource and transport development of the territory is traced in the logic of the formation of spatial structure of transport-industrial development. Having considerable resources of various metallic and nonmetallic minerals, the Komi Republic could become one of Russia's largest areas of extensive mining operations, which basis constitute numerous zones, nodes and areas for the preparation of mineral resources reserves and construction of mining and processing industries in the Republic and neighboring regions. Taking into account ongoing and planned transport infrastructure projects, the mining nodes and transport corridors form the spatial structure of transport-industrial development of the Komi Republic with the real development of large industrial and logistics hubs with large flows of goods and deep processing of minerals to be carried out.
