This article shows the prospects of using alternative energy sources. It is established that the development of the technical potential of alternative energy sources will be determined by economic prerequisites, as well as the framework conditions of energy policy. It has been established that the focus of energy production on fossil sources, the growing importance of coal, poses a threat that, in combination with economic growth and increased demand for energy, there will be a repeated increase in emissions of various gases.
