The prospects of using mobile smoking cessation applications targeting young people in Russia

Smoking cessation applications should be based on the theories of health-related behaviour, as well as scientific data on smoking cessation, and should be developed taking into account the needs of their users. The article overviews available research data on characteristics of available smoking cessation apps and their users. The result of formative research among smoking students of St. Petersburg State University on their readiness to use mobile smoking cessation applications is presented. These data may be used by Russian public health specialists when developing smoking cessation apps in Russia.
