Prospects for the development of unmanned logistics in road cargo transport

This article discusses the prospects for the development of unmanned cargo vehicles. The main advantages and disadvantages of the use of cargo unmanned vehicles from the point of view of transport and information logistics are formulated. Highlights the main Russian companies-developers and testers of cargo unmanned vehicles. The direction of development of the regulatory framework and the necessary modern transport and logistics infrastructure is indicated. The main limitations of the use of unmanned logistics using cellular networks of the 4th generation (4G) and the need for the introduction of networks of the 5th generation (5G) are reflected. The main domestic and foreign operators of cellular networks engaged in the development and implementation of 5G are considered. The generally accepted world standards (SAE) of the level of autonomy of vehicles are highlighted. The rating of the countries most ready to use unmanned vehicles is shown. The main threats of the use of unmanned vehicles are analyzed. The international experience of effective development and use of cargo unmanned vehicles by logistics companies is presented. The author’s assessment of the development and use of unmanned cargo vehicles in the Russian transport and logistics market is given.
