Prospects for the development of librarianship as a social institution in the conditions of the polarization of the world

The article is devoted to librarianship as a social institution. The main directions of the formation of this social institution are revealed and the main domestic library models are analyzed. The prospects of transition to a new state-public model of development of domestic librarianship are substantiated.
