The authors examine the current state of the industry, focusing on the main challenges and problems it has faced in recent years, including the COVID-19 pandemic, economic sanctions, and geopolitical instability. The study reveals the direct and indirect impact of these factors on the hotel business, as well as their profound implications for the operational activities and strategic development of enterprises. Special attention is paid to the prospects for the development of hotel chains in the Russian market following the departure of foreign hotel operators, particularly the positive aspects of this phenomenon, which represents a new approach to studying this issue and may serve as a basis for future research in the field of the hotel business in Russia.
