Prospects for tourism development in the Republic of Belarus

When analyzing the prospects for the development of the tourism industry of the Republic of Belarus, summary statistical information from sources of the National Statistical Committee of the Tourism Sphere, as well as materials from the regional media were used. The article notes that one of the main motivations for visiting tourist destinations of the Republic is the rich cultural heritage and, as a result, actively developing historical and cultural tourism. In the current geopolitical situation, trends have been identified for a significant decrease in inbound tourism and the active development of domestic tourism, which are caused by both the consequences of coronavirus infection and the sanctions policies of Western states. The circumstances of the growth of incoming tourist flows from the CIS countries are analyzed. The article offers recommendations to optimize certain aspects of the organization and promotion of historical and cultural tourism in the regions of the Republic of Belarus. K
