To achieve these goals, it is necessary to develop the road and transport network, stimulate innovation in the agro-industrial complex, which will increase the competitiveness of products. Much attention is paid to supporting small and medium-sized businesses through lending programs. The survey of representatives of small and medium-sized businesses revealed the key problems and prospects of the region, in particular Dagestan. Tourism, especially religious tourism, has significant potential for development due to the cultural and natural diversity of the region, which helps attract tourists from the Arab-Muslim world. In the context of Western European sanctions, the state’s appeal to Arab-Muslim countries makes the development of such tourism timely. The author concludes that the balanced economic development of the North Caucasus Federal District requires coordinated actions in all designated areas in order to achieve an improvement in the well-being of the region.
