Prospects for creation of special economic zones in the concept of sustainable development of civilization

In modern conditions of the evolution of civilization, it is necessary to ensure its sustainable development. In the Concept of the Russian Federation’s transition to sustainable development, this concept is implicitly formulated as “stable socio-economic development that does not destroy its natural basis”. The study showed that SEZs contribute to promoting the concept of sustainable development of society in terms of strengthening its socio-economic security. But these zones have a negative impact on the environmental safety of the region, increasing the anthropogenic load on the natural environment. The opinions of scientists on this issue are ambiguous, but a significant part of them says that the ever-increasing anthropogenic load on the natural environment is leading to global climate change on Earth. These changes pose a threat to the very existence of civilization and are an obstacle to its path to sustainable development. Therefore, when creating a SEZ, it is necessary to consider not only issues of socio-economic security, but also a set of problems associated with a decrease in environmental safety.
