Prospects of trade and economic cooperation between Russia and China

The article analyzes the dynamics of import and export volumes between Russia and China based on data from the Ministry of Trade of the PRC and the Main Customs Administration of the PRC. The driving force of the economic development of the two countries is clarified from the state of Russian-Chinese trade and economic relations that has developed according to Chinese statistics. The growth trend of bilateral trade is shown. The authors study the role and place of Russia among the trading partners of China. The problems in trade and economic cooperation between Russia and China are identified, the solution of which will contribute to the further development of bilateral cooperation. The main problems identified are the homogeneity of the commodity structure of Russian-Chinese trade, the availability of counterfeit goods, and the insufficient level of development of trade regimes. It is determined that trade and economic cooperation based on the strategic partnership of Russia and China has broad prospects.
