The sanctions war between Russia and Western countries makes the issue of the role of Russian energy in ensuring national security and sustainable development of the national economy in the post-Covid era urgent. The contemporary energy sector of Russian economy has a set of competitive advantages that should be used in the interests of maintaining Russia's position as one of the centers of the multipolar architecture of the world economy. Russia in its emerging energy strategy should proceed from the fact that traditional energy sources will retain their dominant position in the energy balance. At the same time, investments in alternative energy sources should also be in the area ofpriority attention ofpublic authorities and private business.
