A brief analysis of the rate of popularization of other means of payment among the population and the reasons for their growing popularity among the population is carried out. The result of the analysis is a list of factors that can affect the rate of introduction of the digital ruble among the population. In addition, the risks of introducing the digital ruble for the banking system are considered, provided that the digital ruble is widely distributed.
