First textbooks and reference books for Mordvins

The paper examines the history of composition of educational and reference books in the Moksha and Erzya dialects of the Mordvinian language in the 19th century. The paper also reveals the contribution of the leading linguists and of Mordvin educators to the preparation of the first textbooks, primers and dictionaries for «non-Russian» schools.
