The given article describes the first experience of sternotomy with plasmatic knife in-vitro on outbred dogs. Comparative analysis of intraoperative blood loss and time necessary for sternotomy has been performed. Morphological evaluation of surrounding tissue injury resulted from sternotomy with plasmatic knife in comparison with routine sternotomy was provided. Basing on the results of the study it was shown that the use of cold plasmatic knife for dissection of bone tissue is highly-efficient and safe; it decreases intraoperative blood loss and reduces occurrence of infectious complications in the postoperative period.
