First anticovid plasma transfusion experience

The clinical efficacy of transfusion of anticovid plasma was evaluated. From April 27 to May 29, 2020, 28 donations were made; 75 therapeutic units of anticovid plasma were prepared for delivery. 40 units of anticovid plasma have been issued for transfusion. Clinicians were asked to fill out an original transfusion efficacy questionnaire. We received 24 completed questionnaires (60%), the analysis of which found that transfusion of anticovid plasma is well tolerated and in 54% of recipients leads to an improvement in the course of the disease within 24 hours. All plasma recipients received the recommended comprehensive treatment. Therefore, to isolate a plasma-specific therapeutic effect, randomized trials with control groups are required - a) without plasma transfusion and b) with transfusion of a healthy donor’s plasma.
