The St. Petersburg'S fire in the novel “At Daggers Drawn” by Nikolai Leskov

The article describes the features of the literary and socio-political life of Russia of the era of 1860-s. Particular attention is paid to the influence of the St. Petersburg's fires in 1862 on the Nickolai Leskov's literary biography. On the basis of the analysis of the novel “At Daggers Drawn” we show Leskov's attempts to answer the question about the causesof the famous fire.
