The Petersburg catholic clergy during the formation of roman hierarchy in Russia (the last quarter of the 18th century)

The article considers the personnel composition of clerics in Petersburg Roman Catholic temple in the last quarter of the 18-th century. Till 1780-th years the Franciscans worked in the city, but in the last decade of the 18-th century they were displaced by members of secular clergy and however already in 1800 in the parish there were only Jesuits. This paper accentuates the main activity lines of Roman clergy - their religious propaganda and educational practice. The author concludes that church organization of the Petersburg Catholics by the end of the century again became the missionary point. Owing to activity of the Petersburg clergy the Roman Catholic Church in Russia greatly has amplified own influence. It has created the ground for appearance of ideology, philosophy and culture of “Russian Catholicism” in the 19-th century.
