The article systematically examines the features of modern views on the spread, causes, pathogenesis, clinical signs and treatment of the pathology. It is worth noting that modern views on pyoderma in dogs are closely interrelated with the concept of the microbiota of the skin and should be considered together. Since the skin is a vital barrier that protects the internal environment of the body from external environmental influences, the adoption of close interaction between the immune system and the skin microbiota is extremely important for the further development and application of the most effective data for pathology therapy. The purpose of the article is to review modern sources and the latest world research on the problems of skin infection caused by Staphylococcus pseudintermedius, as well as its significance for humans and animals. The author uses her own research on the effectiveness of antimicrobial shampoo with 4% chlorhexidine in relation to secondary bacterial dermatitis in dogs in order to demonstrate the therapy of pyoderma using local antiseptics without systemic antibacterial drugs and to prove the effectiveness of this treatment option. Thus, this review article is devoted to the analysis of information about the causative agent of canine pyoderma - Staphylococcus pseudintermedius, the features of pathogenesis, the problem of antibiotic resistance.
