Planning of the first foot ray surgical correction (literature review)

The research reviews the contemporary selection algorithms for surgical correction of the first ray static deformations used for medical decision-making support. We observed the necessity for this approach within the individualized clinical practice and analyzed the enhancement capacities of pre-operative planning for the forefoot. We have also discussed the results of the pilot project based on the development and implementation of the biomechanical finite-element simulation of conditions for correction of the first ray. The article presents the comparison of stressed-deformed state parameters in bone-fixator constructs for first metatarsal bone osteotomies that are widely used in modern clinical practice. We report a potential application of biomechanical simulation for designing new surgical methods and fixation of bone fragment.
