The study discussed the position of the Black Sea coastline garrisons, which covered the eastern coast of the Black Sea in the initial period of the Crimean War. The author noted that from the very beginning they were in unequal military strategic and geographical conditions. Some of them had land communications, which made it possible to obtain all the necessary resources for the successful implementation of military tasks, while others could only rely on regular sea communications between the individual fortifications, the main Russian ports and harbors. The author elaborated on changes in the plans of the Russian military command regarding the garrisons of the Black Sea coastline fortifications depending on the foreign policy situation in the Black Sea area and the actions of Turkey’s European allies.
