The article examines the question of the influence of Plato’s philosophy on Joseph de Maistre, whose work belongs to the intellectual tradition that has deep roots in ancient culture. Metaphysical, religious and socio-political aspects form a single general form in which Maistre and Plato’s thought realizes itself. The common key to understanding the theological arguments of Maistre and Plato can be their religious perception of all reality and idealism, but with the difference that if in the case of Plato the main way to verify theological arguments is dialectics, then in the case of Maistre it will be his belief in universalism Christian truths in their empirical and historical aspects.
