The social networking services may be used for learning oneself and other participants of the network communication. The most important chance for self-discovery and self-determination is given at the moment of signing up. The users consider this procedure as something formal, but nevertheless, in the author’s opinion, the complex of actions for signing up in the social networking system is a peculiar act of initiation, the primary socialization in the new social community. The word “account” applied in the social networking system is also associated with the meaning of the word “evaluation”, which determines emergence of some connotations. The author thinks that the social networking services reveal the place of a person in the system of social relations with unbiased evaluation, disregarding social cliché intrinsic to the offline communication. From the other side, the social networks can be interpreted also as a way of distortion of the reality when learning facts about oneself and others. As cognitional barriers the author considers limitation by the framework of the communicative system, which was created with application of the special software (i.e. format of the social networking system in general (Web2.0) and in particulars (Vkontakte, Facebook, Twitter, etc.)).
