Today, the effectiveness of intrauterine contraception (IUD) is beyond doubt. About 150 million women worldwide use IUD, in the world, according to the WHO, this method of contraception takes a leading position in popularity. There are several types of intrauterine contraceptives (VC), conditionally they can be divided into two groups - inert, which are plastic products of various designs, and medication. The latter may contain in their composition a metal, most often copper, or a hormone. To date, the World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended to abandon the use of inert IUDs, since their use has a rather high frequency of complications and there are more effective and safe types of intrauterine contraceptives.
